Blog post reserved for after I eat some lunch ;) Till then everyone ponder this, would it benefit hockey, Alberta, The Oilers, and society as a whole if Hall and Eberle were gay?
I am back! forgive the absence gang lunch turned into an all day hang out you know how it is. First and foremost I feel I should apologize to the anonymous one.
I had no idea you were so angered by the thought of professional athletes being attracted to the opposite sex. Was there a plan to throw a bit of humor in there? yes... yes there was, or is because I plan on defending my point.
Reasons Hall and Eberle should be gay! (ps I am aware that they are not!)
1. They would not want to be traded away from eachother, this would work into 2 sweetheart deals similar to the Sedin's.
2. They would not sleep with Tommy Salo's Wife
3. They would not sleep with reporters (maybe Rishaug because he's pretty)
4. Lets be honest, Alberta is still pretty redneck, Having an openly gay couple of such high profile would definitely work towards setting a precident in this Province/Country/World
many more but at no point was I posting from a place of hate in my heart. If you have issue with this in the future I would love to discuss it with you on my podcast The Oil Drip!
The Real Post
What players should we wave goodbye to this summer and what players should we keep. Lets take a peak at the current healthy(lol) roster.
Smyth RNH Eberle
Hall Gagner Hemsky
MPS Horcoff Jones
Eager Belanger Lander
Forward Call-ups this season
Omark, Hartikainen, O'Marra, Green, Petrell
Free Agent Forwards Organization Wide
Players Likely Not Going Anywhere
- RNH Eberle
Hall - -
Paajarvi - Horcoff - Jones
Eager Belanger -Lander
I'm starting to believe Paajarvi to be a 3rd line option and not a bonefide top 6. This leaves a gap Smyth will probably fill again next season, I believe he will be brought in on a 1 year deal.
Second line center options are Gagner, Horcoff or an aquisition through draft/FA/Trade, unless Pitlick shows he is ready for primetime but I doubt many people believe he will be ready by next season, sexy or not.
Hemsky provides an interesting position, when playing at his best he is still one of the top players on our team, trade him or keep him? Be aware that if we trade him there isn't any immediate presence in the organization to replace him. Omark is in my opinion a year away from primetime, and even so I don't want to fill that spot with him, I have a bias towards big players.
What say you gang, I'll talk more about defense next time. And I apologize if I offend, been thinking of that random thought for the past 2 weeks.
