Khabibulin Sentenced to 30 Days

I wasn't going to talk about it, because it's been beaten to death. But here we are, and I'm talking Bulin.

As you all know, Khabibulin has been sentenced to 30 days in prison, a pocket full of change (by NHL salary standards) for a fine, and a substance abuse program. Big deal. What is most surprising to me, is how stupid Oilers fans are being. If you've been checking out the comments section of Oilers Nation, you know exactly what I'm talking about.

I'm not saying drunk driving was the greatest decision to make, but it's not the worst thing he could have done. If you look at the charges brought down on some NBA and NFL players, a DUI makes Khabibulin look like a saint. Yet, if you're looking at what some fans are saying, you'd think he's stealing Christmas presents from orphans.

And if you actually think that the Oilers are going to try and void his contract, take the fork out of your ear and pay attention. Players get DUIs, it happens, and they don't get their contracts voided because it's convenient to you as a know it all playboy fan. Mark Belle was wasted and smashed a car... not voided. Jay Bo, DUI... still played for Florida. Sheldon Kennedy got molested by a coach, and still lives his life. Shit happens.

I can't stand the bullshit that fans are dropping, as if they know what they're talking about. Chances are, most of those asshole at ON have, at some point, got behind the wheel of a car after drinking too much. We've all done it. Don't act so fucking pretentious because it happened to a dude with a bad contract from your point of view. I would have taken that kind of money, and so would you.

What's interesting, is the standard to which our pro athletes are held in North America. Queen of baggedmilk manor was telling me a story, about Australian rugby players that are banned from TV for things that they've done. It's wild to see. Whether they get a DUI or a rape charge, those athletes are actually held accountable. Strange no?

I guess 30 days in a minimum security, Arizona, resort for non violent offenders and a coffee's worth of fines isn't so bad.

  1. I haven't heard that X to the Z in years. Bulin goes to jail.

  2. What I'm curious about is why he's appealing???

  3. I think if he didn't appeal he would have been tossed in the clink really soon here. But now with this appeal everything is pushed back, and it's going to take like months to look through it and so now he's free to bounce back to Edmonton ASAP. And I think the appeal is also going to help him do like 10 days max in Tent City instead of the full 30, cause, you know, he's really fucking rich and somewhat famous. Awww the judicial system. It never fails.

  4. how much alcohol does it take to get .17 on a breathalizer?

  5. It depends on hoe quickly your body metabolizes the booze. Each day that can be different depending on things such as, fodd consumed, amount of rest achieved, heart rate, time of day, dehydration level....

As a frequent consumer of alcohol, I can typically pound back 5 or 6 strong doubles and be felling just fine. Somewhere in the 0.1 range. Drunk yes but definitely coherant and reasonable (no I wouldn't drive). Other days it takes as little as 2 beers and I can get one hell of a good buzz on. And on the shitty occasions I can pound back drinks all night and not feel a thing. There is no set amount although the liver can only process a certain amount per hour. here:

  6. Isn't Gregor testing this out today? Him and Meg Morrison getting drunk and testing the breathalyzer? If he doesn't then I'm alright with pinch hitting.

  7. fucking spelling.

Either way, it's best to know your body and err on the side of caution. If you've had too much (which really isn't that much at all) don't drive.

I'd usually have to drink 10 doubles to be as drunk as Khabbiboozin was. That guy was HAMMERED!!! haha. I can't wait to listen to Gregor's show today for the booze experiment.

  9. I was going to say the same thing. The best thing to do, is just not drive. I don't know how much it would take for me to get to .164 but I'm willing to try.

Besides, dude has more than enough money, and probably whores, that he could have taken a cab or had some hoe drive that ferrari home.

  10. @ Travis

Crazy MADD article by the way...

  11. I always wondered about the .08 thing. I mean, it doesnt take many drinks to be there.

  12. It's not a moral issue with me. Khabi is a bad contract and if the Oil can get out of it I'm all for that.

  13. You know, I was reading this fine bit of content and thinking that fucking retard BM stole my playbook. The I realized hey, he's god damn right and I TOTALLY agree with what he's throwing down.
THEN I thought about those MADD people and well, now I hate MADD even more than I used to.

Chalk this afternoon up to another case of re-diverted anger.

  14. @ Greg

I would have liked them to take a different route for the goalie too, but unfortunately the Oilers are stuck with him and his contract.

  15. @ David

I really didn't want to talk about this, because it's been played out. I thought I had to say something, because people are so annoying. Most of the new people posting at ON are ridiculous. Good for a debate, but complete assholes regardless.

As if most of those people haven't questionably driven home after a few rums anyway. Fuck them.

  16. @ BM - It's just the self-righteousness that gets to me. Issues like this give a whole bunch of losers the chance to come out, stand on that soap box and sell everybody on the virtue they so obviously lack in the rest of their lives. Fuck them.

    Fuck MADD too.

  18. @BM It's a bad marriage with more heartache to come!

  19. That's why I have a 2 or at the most 3 beer liquid lunch or apres work beer limit. And I switched to drinkin the bullet for the less alcohol content. If it's a nice dark import pint then 2 is the definite limit.

Every other time it's cab or limo..
