Phoenix is the hot new band for faggy hipsters to drool all over, but surprisingly I really like them. These dudes have put out 4 albums since 2000, but their latest, Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, has finally pushed them into mainstream success in North America. I can't say I ever listened to them before this new album, but I like it and I'm inclined to check out some of their older stuff.
There's some French art collective, or some kind of shit, I don't know, anyway basically it's a couple dudes with cameras and they get together with all the hipster alt-rock bands (Grizzley Bear, Bon Iver, Beirut, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, etc) usually when they're rolling through France on tour and they go to a random place with the band and record them jamming out. Example; they meet up with The Arcade Fire backstage, and proceed to follow them while they rock out in an elevator, and through the crowd as they make their way to the stage. The blog is called La Blogotheque, and in one of their latest "Take Away Shows" they got Phoenix to play in front of the Eiffel Tower. It's pretty rad. Check it out.
