So Long Mathieu Garon

Today is game day. The Oilers are taking on the Kings at the Pharmacy (Towel Boy gets a solid for this one) and the immortal Jason Gregor is reporting that Roloson will get yet another start. If Roli had played well in his last start than I would be accepting of his getting the start again tonight. However, he just so happened to let in 3 goals on 10 shots in his 10 minutes of play against Detroit last Thursday. For some reason, Craig MacTavish feels that this mind melting performance deserves another go against the Kings while Mathieu Garon is left sitting on the bench twiddling his dick. This doesn't even follow the usual series of events that MacFail uses when picking his starting goalie. Normally if the goalie shits the bed than he has his ticket to the press box for the next game and someone else will get the start. Not this time.

With Garon getting less action than the World of Warcraft community, I will start waving goodbye to yet another player with potential. After coming into the season as the #1 goaltender, Garon has not started a game since Pittsburgh on November 7th. The next time Garon played after this start was last Thursday in relief of tonight's starter, Roloson, in which he played well. With the way MG has been treated so far this season, the chance of him resigning with the Oilers is ZERO under the current regime. Yet again, a player will be run out of town by the coach just to make the old balls player (in this case Roloson) happy. If they're not going to play Garon, trade him!

I'm tired of the mismanagement of assets that has become common place with Craig MacTavish. Is it any wonder why players don't want to come to Edmonton? I had almost believed the hype that our city and winters were at fault, when it is starting to become more and more apparent that it is the coach that UFAs don't want to play for. With Penner being thrown under the bus last week, and Garon not playing again until Claude Lemieux wins another Conn Smythe, it is only a matter of time before another player is thrown under the bus. Watch out Erik Cole, I'm guessing your name is next on the list. One by one, MacTavish will alienate every player in that dressing room if it's the last thing (and I hope it is) that he does. 2 down, 18 to go.

2 Say Your Piece:

  1. The list is endless...

    mismanagement of Conklin
    mismanagement of Salo
    mismanagement of Garon
    mismanagement of Penner
    mismanagement of Schremp
    mismanagement of Smid

just about the only thing he ever did that was a brilliant idea was play Brad Winchester against the Red Wings in spring of 05-06
